ECG
Government plans include a series of projects necessary to improve the
investment climate nationwide. These include projects related to roads,
energy, ports, railways, and water and wastewater networks. ECG will
always be part of Egypt’s infrastructure development scheme. This stems
from our strong belief that infrastructure projects are the key to sound
investment and social development.
We are currently involved in a number of major infrastructure projects in
Egypt, including the Master Plan for East Cairo Potable Water
Transmission Mains.
Q: How do you view the investment climate in Egypt in light of the
economic fluctuations since the January 2011 Revolution? A: The
investment climate in Egypt has severely slowed down since 2011 due to
political instability. However, as of 2014, Egypt has started to regain its
status in the Middle East by developing plans for investment opportunities
in Egypt. Such plans would contribute to the country’s economic growth.
In March 2015, Egypt hosted an international investment conference in
Sharm Al-Sheikh, where several investment : opportunities were announced,
including the “New Capital” project. The conference was a great success,
and Egypt was able to raise about US$12 billion worth of foreign
investments. The opening of the New Suez Canal and the development of
the Suez Canal Zone are set to turn Egypt into one of the key centers of
world trade.
Q: What are the most significant awards granted to ECG? A: Most recently,
the Dubai high-rise “Ocean Heights” designed by ECG received Emirates
Steel GCC Building Project of the Year.
Q: What do you think about the project of the proposed new capital of
Egypt? A: The proposed project of the New Capital is considered one of
Egypt’s most strategic projects.
