كاسيو أنا أتذكر حوادث عدة تختلط ببعضها، ولا أتذكر أي شيء بوضوح، أتذكر أنني كنت أتشاجر، ولكن لا أتذكر سبب الشجار. يا إلهي. ما الذي يحمل الناس على فقدان أن عقولهم بكثرة الشراب؟ لماذا نفرط في احتفالنا وابتهاجنا حتى نصبح كالأنعام؟

إياجو يبدو عليك التحسن الآن، كيف استعدت قواك هكذا؟
كاسيو لقد ذهب تأثير الشراب عندما اشتد غضبي، ها هي نقاط ضعفي يقود بعضها إلى بعض لتجعلني أكره نفسي أكثر.
إياجو هدئ من روعك يا رجل، إنك شديد القسوة على نفسك. كم كنت أتمنى لو أن ذلك كله لم يحدث في ظل الموقف الذي تواجه البلاد تحت قيادتك. ولكن بما أنه قد جرى ما جرى فعليك أن تصلح الأمر بنفسك ولنفسك.
كاسيو إن طلبت منه أن يعيد لي الرتبة التي سلبني إياها فسيقول أنني ثمل. وحتى لو كان لي من الصفاحة ما لي، لما استطعت أن أرد عليه. لقد كنت بالنسبة إليه رجلًا عاقلًا متزنا، أما الآن فقد أصبحت أحمق، وها أنا في النهاية مثل الحيوانات! يا إلهي، اللعنة على كل كأس من الشراب!
CASSIO I remember a jumble of impressions, but nothing distinctly. I remember a fight, but not why we were fighting. Oh God, why do men drink and lose their minds? Why do we party until we’re like animals?
IAGO You seem all right now. How did you get better?
CASSIO My drunkenness went away when ange took over. One weakness led to another, to make me hate myself.
