إياجو لا بد أن يكون ما يظهره الناس هو ما يبطنونه في طيات أنفسه. فإن لم يكونوا أمناء من داخلهم، فلا يجب أن يتظاهروا بذلك.
عطيل بكل تأكيد، فلا بد أن يظهر الناس ما يبطنونه.
إياجو وبناء على ذلك، فانا أعتقد أن كاسيو رجل أمين.
عطيل لا، أعتقد أن هناك ما تخفيه عنى، من فضلك أخبرني بما يدور في رأسك حتى إن كانت شكوكاً سيئة.
إياجو من فضلك لا تجبرني على القيام بذلك سيدي. يتوجب علق إطاعة أوامرك، ولكنني بالتأكيد لست ملزماً بالإفصاح عن أفكاري الدفينة؛ فلكل شخص، حتى العبد، الحق في أن يحتفظ بأسراره وأفكاره. أتريدني أن أفصح لك عنها؟ ماذا لو كانت تلك الأفكار خاطئة ومثيرة للاشمئزاز؟ حتى الصالح منا تراوده أفكار شنيعة في بعض الأحيان. فمن هذا الذي وصل إلى درجة من التقاء تجعله لا يفكر في أفكار سيئة؟!
عطيل لن تكون صديقاً وفياً مخلصاً إذن يا إياجو لو كان لديك مجرد شك في أن شيئاً ما يسيء لصاحبك ولم تخبره إياه.

You want me to say what I’m thinking? What if my thoughts are disgusting and wrong?. Even good people think horrible things sometimes. Who is so pure that they never think a bad thought?
