(تدخل السعيدة ماكبيث ومعها خادم)

السيدة ماكبيث: هل غادر بانكو القصر؟
الخادم: نعم، ولكنه سيعود مرة أخرى في المساء.
السيدة ماكبيث: أخبر الملك أنني أود رؤيته.
الخادم: أمرك يا سيدتي.
السيدة ماكبيث: لقد فعلنا كل شيء ولكننا لم نفز بأي شيء. لقد حصلنا على ما أردنا ولكننا لسنا سعداء رغم ذلك. (يدخل ماكبيث وتتوجه نحوه بحب لم تجلس وحيدًا شاغلًا نفسك بالأفكار الحزينة بشأن الماضي؟ لا تهدر وقتك بالتفكير في الأشياء التي لا يمكن تغييرها. ماكبيث (مبعدًا إياها عنه): لسنا بمنأى عن الخطر. لا أستطيع تناول طعامي، كما تراودني أحلام مفزعة بالليل. إنني أفضل الموت عن
)Lady Macbeth and a servant enter.)
LADY MACBETH: Has Banquo left the castle?
SERVANT: Yes, but he’s coming back tonight.
LADY MACBETH: Ask the King to come and sec me. SERVANT: Yes, madam. (The servant leaves.)
LADY MACBETH: We have done everything, but we have won nothing. We have got what we wanted, but we are not happy. (Macbeth enters. She goes towards him lovingly.)
Why do you stay by yourself, thinking sad thoughts about the past? Do not waste time thinking about things that cannot be changed.
MACBETH (pushing her away): We are still not out of danger. I cannot eat and I have terrible dreams at night. I would prefer to die than continue to suffer these fears.
