ماكبث – المشهد 4 في الغابة- ص1

(على صوت قرع الطبول يدخل مالكوم، وسيوارد، وماكدوف،، ومينتس، وكاثنيس، وآنجوس وبصحبتهم مجموعة من الجنود. يصطف الجنود في صف واحد بعرض المسرح). 

سيوارد: ما أسم هذه الغابة؟
مينتس: غاية بيرنام.
مالكوم (إلى الجنود) على كل منكم أن يقوم بقطع شجرة وحملها أمامه، بهذه الطريقة سوف نتمكن من حجب العدد الفعلي لجنودنا عن العدو.
الجنود: سوف تفعل ذلك (يبدأون في قطع الأشجار).
سيوارد: لقد سمعنا أن الطاغية ماكبيث لايزال قابعًا في دانسينان، وينوي البقاء هناك.
مالكوم: إن ذلك أفضل ما يمكنه القيام به. لقد تخلى عنه معظم رجاله عندما سنحت لهم الفرصة.
ماكدوف: دعنا نصدر أحكامنا بعد حربنا له.
سيوارد: نعم، لن يتضح المستقبل أمامنا إلا من خلال المعركة. (إلى الجنود) دعونا نتقدم (يكون الجنود صفًا ويغادرون جميعًا). 
(A drum sounds. Malcolm, Seyward, Macduff Menteth, Cathness and Angus enter with soldiers marching. The 
soldiers form a line across the stage).
SEYWARD: What is this wood called?
MENTETH: Birnam Wood.
MALCOLM (to the soldiers): Each of you must cut down a tree and carry it in front of you. In this way we will hide the true number of soldiers in our army from the enemy. SOLDIERS: Wo will do it. (They begin to cut down trees.) SEYWARD: We have heard that the tyrant Macbeth is still in Dunsinane, and intends to stay there.
MALLZIM: It is the best thing he can do. Many of his men 
left him when they had an opportunity.
MACDUFF: Let us make our judgements after we have fought him.
SEYWARD: Yes, the future will only be made clear through 
battle. (to the soldiers) Let us march on!
(The soldiers form a line and they all leave, marching.)
