الإستمرار في مثل هذه المخاوف. لقد مات دانكن، وهو الآن في راحة من مشاكل الحياة. لقد إنتهى عذابه ولا شيء قادر على إيذائه الآن.
السيدة ماكبيث: من فضلك يا سيدي، أمح تلك النظرة البائسة من على وجهك. كن سعيدًا ومرحبًا بضيوفك الليلة.
ماكبيث (محاولًا أن يبدو سعيدًا): سوف أفعل يا حبيبتي، وعليك أنت أيضًا فعل ذلك. ولتتذكري الإهتمام ببانكو إهتمامًا خاصًا. هذه الأوقات ليست بالآمنة، وعلينا ألا نسمح لوجوهنا بإظهار المشاعر الحقيقية الكامنة في قلوبنا.
السيدة ماكبيث: عليك التوقف عن التفكير في مثل هذه الأشياء.
ماكبيث: إن عقلي متخم بالأفكار الخطيرة يا زوجتي العزيزة! أنت تعلمين أن بانكو وفليانس لا يزالان أحياء. ولكن قبل أن يحل الليل سوف ترتكب جريمة شنعاء. السيدة ماكبيث (مندهشة): ماذا سيحدث؟
ماكبيث: من الأفضل ألا تعرفي هذا الأمر الآن. ولكنك حين تعلمين، ستسعدين. (ناظرا من النافذة) إن الظلام يحل. سوف تبدأ مخلوقات النهار الطيبة في الشعور بالنعاس، أما مخلوقات الليل فسوف تبدأ في الإستيقاظ والقنص. إنني أعلم أن كلماتي تلك تثير دهشتك، ولكن عليك التحلي بالصبر. إن الأشياء التي تبدأ بالشر، تغدو أكثر قوة بمزيد من الشر. (ماذا يده) رجاء، تعالى معي.
(يغادران)
Duncan is dead; he is at peace after the troubles of life. His
suffering has ended and nothing can touch him now.
LADY MACBETH: Please, my lord, take that unpleasant look off your face. Be happy and welcoming to your guests tonight. MACBETH (trying to look happy): I will, my love, and you must too. Remember to give special attention to Banquo. These times are so unsafe that we must not allow our faces to show the true feelings of our hearts.
LADY MACBETH: You must stop thinking about these things. MACBETH: My mind is full of dangerous thoughts, dear wife! You know that Banquo and Fleance are still alive. But before night, a terrible crime will take place.
LADY MACBETH (surprised): What is going to happen? MACBETH: It is better that you do not know about it now. But
when you do know, you will be glad. (looking out of the window) It is beginning to get dark. The good creatures of day are beginning to feel sleepy, but the creatures of night are starting to wake up and go hunting. You are surprised at my words, but be patient. Things with evil beginnings grow stronger through more evil. (holding out his hand) Please, come with me.
(They leave.)
