Empowerment of women through handcrafts income generation activities
Yadaweya is a shareholding company aiming at supporting artisans by offering new market channels locally and internationally. Moreover, within the framework of “Ebda3 men Masr” initiative, Yadaweya cooperated with ALEXBANK to advertise and promote for more artisans’ work giving them access to markets and giving them better opportunities. The partnership also aims at improving the e-marketing services for craftsmen across all digital marketing channels as well as increasing the craftsmen base from across all Egyptian Governorates. The partnership goal is also to build the capacity needed by craftsmen and to provide them with programs that supports the Egyptian arts and heritage. Currently, ALEXBANK and Yadaweya are implementing a project named “ KenouzMasreya” aimed at empowering artisans through 4 main aspects: a- Mapping and documentation of the handcrafts and the artisans located within the target area of historical Egypt, highlighting the geographical and historical heritage of Egypt. b-Provision of micro-loans to embark on a handcrafts business, c- Emerging street children within Ebda3 men Masr initiative as an empowering option for future source of income as artisans. The total number of beneficiaries is 785 in designated areas;Siwa, Suhag, Aswan, Shalateen, Qena, Giza and Damanhour.
