Exciting Prospects from Designers Worldwide, every year accompanied by annual
Salone International del Mo b ile in Milan, Salone Satellite the portion of the fair
dedicated to young designers the age 35- shines over the exhibi tor that was held from
April 9th to April ‘4th 2013 at Fiera Milano Rho .This year marks the 16th iteration of
the show, cre ated by Marva Griffin Wilshire, who along- ; de esteemed judges from
around the .old welcomed hundreds of entrants and 17 international design schools to
dism ay their cre ations exchange ideas at this unique showcase. The proposals are
examined and evaluated by a prestigious Selection Committee drawn from the same of
international professionals from the world of design and media. The theme, this year
was “Design & Craftsmanship: Together for Industry The Salon Satellite as creat ed in
1998 for the express pur-pose of bringing together the most promising young
designers from all over the world with the most important business p eople and talent
scouts gathered in Milan to visit or exhibit at the Saloni.   The Satellite immediately
became an unparalleled observatory of young international creativity: many of the
pieces conceived by the under 35s and presented as prototypes in the fifteen previous
editions have gone into production, and many of the partici pating designers have
become important figures in the star system including Jasper Morrison,
Harri   Koskinen , Matali Crass at, and many others, .were discovered there
For the first time in the Salone Satellite, Egypt made its first appearance by
partici pating with a collective stand for the top 5 winners of the D+l competition that
was held in Egypt during Furnex Exhibition event in November 2012 that was
spon sored by the EFEC.
