NEW ASWAN CITY

Sites International designed the master plan for the New Aswan City,
located 12km from the old city along the west bank of the Nile.
Commissioned by the New Urban Communities Authority of the Egyptian
Government, it is due to open in phases, starting in 2018.
The design layout includes residential and commercial zones, including
healthcare, business, retail, hospitality, and cultural facilities, as well as a
138-acre Nile Park, a first for Aswan. The design focus is on adaptability
and sustainability within the surrounding environment as is befitting of the
historic and cultural significance of the location. The project houses the Sir
Magdy Yacoub medical complex, a museum, an open-air theatre, Nubian
style touristic villages, and a new tram service.
