THE HARMONY BETWEEN THE NATURE AND DESIGN
Kali Villa in Lebanon is located at the Mediterranean Sea, on the coast of
Munsef city and near to the old part of Byblos which is considered as one
of the oldest Phoenician cities.
Patrick Mezher and Walid Ghantous Blank Page architects has supervised
this projects along side with Karim Nader Studio. They worked together t o
design this unique place that overlooks the sea for almost, years. The
worked on all the tiny details in the house to include all the environmental
aspects like the sunrays and the fascinating scenery which gives a space for
seeing the sea shore   The house, inspired by the nearby rock formation in its
composition of overlapping levels, refers to the layout of untraditional
house design where rooms are grouped around a courtyard. The courtyard
here opens up completely towards the sea.
In this sense, the topography and the rock formations of the coast continue
ideally within the house; the see itself is very much part of this residence as
water and the salty breeze dialogue with the stratifications of its
architectural elements.
Villa Kali has a total surface area of 2.000 square meters and consists of
two volumes opening towards the sea in a V- shper with connecting
bridges. The two side wings direct people’s gaze towards the meditrranean
throughan ample staircase that leads to the reception area, in the very core
of the house. This area may be sheltedred or tatally opened up to the
elements by means of a sliding glass door system. The house also includes
the living room, the bar, the gym,and the kitchen.
From the reception area one may step out onto the terrace, walk towards
the pool, decend towards the beach. The two upper floors contain 11
bedroom suits, each with views of the shoreline and the water and a roof
garden completes the composotion, referncing once again to the rock
formations of the site that depends on scenery.
