El Max Fishermen Village
El Max Fishermen Village, El Amreya district, is an area defined by its
unique urban pattern. In order to be closer to their jobs and look out for
their possessions, the fishermen of El Agamy built small housing units on
the two banks of an agricultural drainage canal which makes its way
through a hill. Fishing boats lie by these houses, ready for going out into the
sea and making everyday living.
Due to negligence over the years and mass displacement threats from the
government, buildings conditions deteriorated, sanitation levels fell, the
economy and education levels declined. Not to mention the severe
environmental problems causing a threat to human health.

development, but, also a pollution free, self- sustained, safe and secure
community, attracting tourists from places all across the world.
