Al Alamein New City (ANC) will constitute the nucleus of the region’s development. It
is planned and designed to be resilient and sustainable city that drives integrated
economic development, provides jobs, adequate amenities and services for its residents
within its ecological limit . Anc   lies on unique site linking the sea to the desert. It is
envisioned as a model for smart, sustainable and green cities. The urban planning,
design and development of the city and its main functions and activities will be guided
by the previous experiences of new cities, building on successes and   Avoiding previous
gaps
The model developed for the city ensures the adoption of an integrated approach in
order to ensure achieving economic, social and environment considerations   ib  a
balanced and complementary manner. It will also ensure that the concerns and priorities
of the local community are fully taken into account in the design plan, including the
provision of housing, social services and jobs .
The main planning concept depends on a base unit set in a grid pattern, the
neighborhood as a base unit, 6 base units will constitute a sustainable community, with
an approximate size of 50- 60000 inhabitants, to be replicated when achieving its full
development .
The architecture, and urban form of the city consider building a city with identity and
character, that should be enhanced with the residents activities. To ensure
inclusiveness, public spaces, squares, plazas, pedestrian walks, are conceived, and
connected through green corridors, leading to the waterfront public beach and Cornish
14km long. Public buildings are   strlocated   in prime areas, the blue color is the
prevailing in street furniture, and landscaping is a main tool to enhance attractiveness of
the city .
