The aim of competition was to simulate the full experience of implementing
the Green Pyramid Rating System on a worship house building. We are
very proud to be part of this critical stage of spreading the concept of Green
building through an Egyptian Rating System.
Location:
“The Square Mosque” is located in the area of October Gardens at 6th of
October City on a main axis named The Italian district. The total built-up
area of the project is 11,500 m2 and represents 25% of proposed site
which is 45,600 m2. “The Square Mosque” Project consists of:
• Men’s prayer hall with a maximum capacity of 4300 Prayers.
•Open Sahn with a maximum capacity of 5000 Prayers.
• Women’s prayer hall with a maximum capacity 600 Prayer.
•Two big MBUs with a maximum capacity of 600 person
• Two small MBU with a maximum capacity 300 person
• Quran School, Public Library and Museum
Concept:
The concept of “The Square Mosque” came from the principles of equity in
ISALM. All people are equal; there is no difference between them in rights
and duties or in reward and punishment. Also, the principle of equity in the
alignment of people while praying, there is no difference between them?   the
rich stands beside the poor in one row in one place. And making the
building sustainable supports the principle of equity between generations in
ensuring their right to the environmental, social and economic holistic
sustainability.
