New Events
Sadany said, “Winning the IAD presidency is in favor of Egypt, as it
provides a great chance to shed lights on the Egyptian creativity and arts
through organizing a number of events throughout the two next years, as
well as carrying a number of projects in all domains of design.” The IAD
president added, “I’ll work hard to make good use of such a chance to bring
Egypt under the spotlight in all fields, particularly tourism.”
She pointed out that, “There is a strong correlation between architectural
character and tourism promotion in view of the fact that the architectural
design of hotels and main downtown service buildings affect tourism
revenues. Urban development plans should, therefore, be carefully studied
and carried out to help increase tourism revenues.”
Sadany added, “The project includes the designing of a special program
aiming to attract more tourists to Egypt. The program is meant to
encourage tourists to stay as long as possible in Egypt. It will also serve as
an advertisement for Egypt’s fine architecture.”
Future of Architecture in Egypt Sadany went on to say, “Architecture
designs convey clearer vision when the State provides young architects with
plots of land where they can turn their designs into concrete projects.
However, design projects granted to those young architects are very few.
Moreover, the youth are deprived from participating in major projects.
Instead, foreign experts are recruited to work in such projects.”
Sadany calls for reviving confidence in Egyptians’ capabilities through
giving them a chance to play a role in major projects, which will certainly
help give further impetus to the Egyptian architecture. Egypt’s finest minds
should be given more support in order to encourage Egyptians to back their
country’s products.
