Architecture is a broad word that pertains to the process of designing and
planning the environment which guides and shapes the human behavior. It
can be implemented in countless ways from different styles and expression
to different functions and magnitude. To achieve a well designed and
planned product, one must have guidelines that direct the design in a certain
direction, determining its style and general mood. The design guidelines
include the use of local materials, certain architectural elements types of
opening and general massing composition. Many styles ranging from
neoclassic to contemporary and modern are achieved abiding by the same
guidelines, different moods are perceived from each style, some give
warmth, richness and luxury, where others give coolness, freshness and
serenity also part of the design guidelines, a certain color scheme, It is
determined to blend the project with the surrounding environment, creating
harmony on large scale. All designs must complement each other
holistically, creating a rhythmic flow through-out. Furthermore, the master
planning and landscape play a major role in the quality of the surrounding
environment. Open green spaces are encouraged and created as focal points
to give emphasis. The layout achieved must enhance the quality of life, and
create a healthier living environment.
Everything we live in, with and by depends on engineering, on Design Dalia
Sadany started her talk about her successful career in design.
Dalia Sadany is an architect, graduated from Alexandria University Faculty
of Engineering and completed her studies in Italy, in several other fields of
design. She held the position of President of the International Foundation
for Design in Italy (IAD) and created the first design event in Cairo, Cairo
Design Biennale, she also founded ASDA Association Egypt’s First Design
Hub.
