THE DREAM OF THE GOVERNMENT IN THE FACE OF REALITY
PRIORITIES
Report: Marwan Abou Alta
The idea of a new administrative capital project came to light in conjunction
with the “economic conference” held in Sharm el-Sheikh in March, which
initiated the company “Eagle Hills” of the group, the UAE “Alabbar” to
announce a partnership with Egypt to implement the project but
disagreements over the implementation mechanism disrupted cooperation
between them, and Egypt announced the cancellation of the memorandum
of understanding, both sides committed to silence about the details of the
dispute in respect of bilateral relations that combine the two countries.
Although many of the criticisms expressed by the idea of the project of new
administrative capital since its launch in the economic conference and yet,
on the basis of this, it is not a priority compared to other areas such as
manufacturing and operation of factories, reform and development of two-
way Infrastructure which has been deteriorating in Cairo and other c
governorates, in addition to the objections raised concerning me
headquarters of the new capital, but it is the face of the Egyptian
government’s view, this project will stimulate growth in me next forty years
and promotes the national economy as well as to relieve congestion in Cairo
and residential accommodate population increases.
In this context, the Council of Ministers approved a draft decision of the
President of the Republic on south “Cairo – Suez” of an approximate area
of 190 445 acres needed to create me new administrative capital of the
New Urban Communities areas, so as to implement the new urban
assembly in eastern New Cairo City. Many views of experts and
consultants in this regard between supporters for the project to address the
shortcomings plaguing Cairo, and between opponents for the project to
other priorities.
