ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN
Our proposal for the Science City looks to introduce a new layer of urban fabric within
the 6th of October City on the western side of the city of Cairo which relies of clear
Architectural principles:
– The ‘organic building configurations choreographed with water features and the woven
organic landforms found in the rich and distinct zones of Egypt.
– The eternally flowing nature and ancient civilization developments along the Nile
River represented by the flowing paths and passageways connecting the ensemble of
buildings on the site.
– Defining a central plaza within the Science Park where the Observation Tower become
a recognizable new landmark of Egypt from which the visitor experience originates and
forms the experience originates and forms the experiential ‘joy of learning and
discovery’ of the site; both in terms of an architectural journey and a passage through a
complex of museums, research & administration facilities, planetarium, theatre and
conference centre containing a vast wealth of technological and scientific heritage –
both Egyptian and global.
– Research and educational facilities provide controlled light conditions that develop
around central self-shading courtyards to create a proper social spatial configuration to
foster curiosity-driven research towards a spirit of discovery.
Our deisgn process has been developed using mathematical principles found in biology
and natural systems to create a unique and coherent composition that can integrate
intricate pathway system, respond to environmental parameters and manage a balanced
distribution of geometric expression.
