With the participation of 150 major Egyptian companies, which are
operating in furniture industry and specialized in décor, home furnishings,
handicrafts and lighting, the 10th edition of Furnex – Egypt’s International
Furniture & Home Furnishings Trade Fair was held in Cairo in early
February, 2016. The fair was organized by the Egyptian Exporter
Association ( Expolink) in partnership with the Egyptian Furniture Export
Council (EFEC) and in cooperation with the Chamber of Woodworking and
Furniture Industry.
The Exhibitors included “Kandil Egypt”, whose booth had shining pieces of
various collections of its famous chandeliers. The booth included “Modern”
collection for the first time this year, in addition to classic chandeliers with
the aim to having Egyptian products that can compete with their Italian and
Chinese counterparts in terms of price and design   El-Serag ” company also
participated in the fair with collections of chandeliers that integrates heritage
with modernity. Such collections were appreciated and deemed good by the
visitors, according to Hamdy Nada, founder of the company. However,
Nada lamented the decrease of craftsmen that affected handicrafts.
Aseel   Misr” for Metal products” exhibited an Egyptian collection of
handicrafts, which are greatly inspired by Islamic and Coptic styles to meet
the needs of foreign markets.
