Eng. Tarik Al- Nabarawy grew up in Abbasiyah district, Cairo. He joined
Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University. Al- Nabarawy started his
national struggle in the 1968, student protests in Egypt, when he was one of
leading students who organized the protests at Ain Shams University.
He was elected as head of the Student Union of Faculty of Engineering at the
same university from 1971 to 1973. In 1972, Al- Nabarawy led his classmates
in the protests calling for liberation and democracy and was detained during
these protests.

Eng. Tarik Al- Nabarawy was elected as head of the Egyptian Engineers
Syndicate and member of the executive office of Egyptian Student Union
from 1972 to 1974. After graduation from Mechanics Department in 1974, Al-
Nabarawy started his professional career in the workshops of Arab
Contractors Company. Afterwards, he worked as a freelancer and
established an engineering company with his colleagues.
Al-Nabarawy was elected for Mechanics Department at the Egyptian
Engineers Syndicate from 1975 to 1979. He was one of the main founders of
“Engineers Against Receivership” group since 2003, as he led the struggle to
end the receivership over the syndicate. Accordingly, Al- Nabarawy staged
and took part in all protests and sit-ins of engineers calling for lifting the
receivership and holding elections. On December 27th, 2009, he had, along
with other colleagues, a historic ruling to end the receivership. Such a ruling
was upheld by the court of appeal on August 14th, 2011. Moreover, he had
another historic verdict to hold an extraordinary general meeting in 2004 and
forced the Egyptian regime to hold the meeting on February 13th, 2006, but
the then irrigation minister Mahmoud Abu Zeid rejected the implementation
