AND THIS IS MY STORY..

My name is muqarnas, i was created by « an architect, as one of best
parametric structural systems.
That could transform weights from different ceiling types to walls, also to
decorate as squinches
i am unique, royal, ornamental, and effective system,
but I was used for along decades in the same function, until new structural
systems was discovered, then they forgot me,
with those statements mahmoud abdrabboh the architect started telling us
about his new collection.
The story started since I was nominated with 41 artists from all over the
world to participate in the annual Islamic Arts Festival, that was held in
Sharjah Arts Musuem, in UAE.
Theme This Year was named Bunyan, telling stories about the Islamic
Architecture , through Art.
As an artist and architect, it was a bigger challenge for me that I have to
express about the Islamic architecture very well.
In the beginning I started to revise and review the old Islamic architecture
figures and elements.
Then I chose the Muqarnas,
The muqarnas element is so unique, one of the first parametric structural
system in the world.
Specially it has been forgotten in reusing the Islamic themes in
contemporary designs.
I started studying the Muqarnas. In it is normal phase. Then doing
unfolding for it is form.
In different shapes and types.
Then doing a deconstruction process to it, to look beneath its layers.
I found that the muqarnas as basic unit, has multi options and possibilities
in design.
I sketched about 30 sketches, then I chose 4 of them,
«the basic Muqarnas as we know, and three different possibilities of it,»
The collection was names «l am the Muqarnas, and this is my story»
