DALIA SADANY 3من اصل3
So now, would you tell us about «Dalia Sadany » as a designer? how do
your works express this comprehensive component about life? and how
does designing affect your life?
Yes, I as a designer completely understand the effect of the cultural
component on behaviors and feelings of societies. Hence the civilizational
component of societies should be taken into consideration during the
designing process. Not only the building function is my motivation to
design, but also the study of the place-based identity, the surrounding
buildings, and the era to which they belong. In this point, I do not mean to
imitate a specific architectural era. However, a designer should display-
even if symbolically- some details and marks about the place-based identity;
pharaonic , Coptic, islamic or modern. He/ She should combine all these
things together in a modern way using modern components to finally get his
work displayed as a take-off from an obvious civilizational authenticity to a
strong modernity having its traditional roots fixed.
With this concept, can the designer reach the internationalization?
Of course. Otherwise, there is no probability that he could not reach it. The
international organizations interested in designing grant their awards to the
creators taking a great care of the importance of how the designer show the
civilizational and cultural components in his/ her works. This is what I have
applied in all of my works; for instance, my w (Al- Nourg ) machine- which
means an old agricultural threshing machine- inspired me to design a piece
of furniture. This work, in addition to my imaginary design of Altahrir
Square gained the award of the largest designing organization in Italy. As a
result of all these efforts exerted, I have become a member of an arbitration
committee in this Italian organization, furthermore, I have a world rank as
an international designer.
