Suburb of Abu Qir is a large urban located at the end of the east side of
Alexandria .it is accessible through one way , as well as public
transportation network the most important of it is the railway line of Abu
Qir.
Both the station and it’s square constitute an important element, and this
station is the end of the line of Abu Qir Alexandria railway, located at the
beginning of the residential areas of the city, which requires re-planning and
re-designing of the station to match with the most moderate global systems
in this field.
The design takes into transportation networksaccount the followings:
• To match the main master plan of Alexandria 2017, which includes the
development of Abu Qir Area including the development of the final train
terminal square beside the terminal’s building.
• Development of the terminal in each of the artistic, functional and
architectural faces.
• Choosing of the architectural direction that reflects the modernism of
architecture
• Analysis of movement for individuals, trains, and transportation network
which surrounding
the terminal, beside the development of terminal’s square.
• Good use of the materials which involved in construction of the project as
being environmentally friendly.
• Good use of the natural characteristics of the site to save energy as much
as possible which is an important requirement now a days and in the future.
• Best investment of the terminal and the site as a whole both commercially
and touristically.
• Replacement of the existing trains with monorails in the proposed project
so as to-Save time and increase the speed of the passengers’ transfer from
any point in Alexandria to Abu Qir and vice versa.
• widening the width of the streets due to the cancelling of the old ground
train lines which allows great liquidity of the ground surface traffic.
