Eng. Ahmed Mito, who passed away in October 2015, is still present with
his works, achievements and unconventional ideas that prove his ability and
distinct personality. Mito enriched the Egyptian, Arab and international
architecture with his outstanding architectural works.
Mito was born on November 5th, 1966. He graduated from the Faculty of
Engineering, Architecture Department at Ain Shams University. He
obtained a master’s degree and PhD in architecture. He repudiated all
offers to work abroad, since he has passionate belief in his noble message
and his national motivation. Mito assumed several positions in Egypt such
as a consultant architect at the Egyptian Ministry of Culture, a consultant
architect in Egypt’s Supreme Council of Antiquities (SCA) in 2010 and
head of the Egyptian Academy of Arts in Rome. Additionally, he
represented Egypt in a number of occasions like the Venice Biennale in
2010 as general coordinator and in Biennale, Torino in 1997. After his
graduation, Mito won several prizes, such as the international competition’s
prize
for the development of the Egyptian National Library and Archives in Bab-
al-Khalq , the Investment Bank, multi-purposes complex in Nasr City and
Housing and Development Bank. He also won the prize of museum
competitions in the cities of Al-Mahalla, Hurghada , Al-Mansoura and Edfu .
Further more , Mito was awarded the prizes of the memorial in Rafah , the
Nile University, BUC Badr University in Cairo and even the Venice
Biennale.
Eng. Ahmed Mito, who is characterized with artistic engineering touches,
has an excellent record of outstanding works to be ranked among the
world’s senior architects. For example, he has made great achievements
through his works in Bibliotheca Alexandrina and the building of the
Constitutional Court.
