CLEANLEAN FLAT PACK CHAIR RECLINES WITH YOUR BODY POSTURE

cleanlean ‘ by industrial design students at victoria university of wellington in new
zealand is a reclining flat-packable chair intended for spaces such as libraries and
airport lounges. The flexible furniture piece uses a pair of linkages that are mounted to
its outer frame – enabling different seating positions to be maintained, simply by
adjusting one’s body posture. The responsive chair helps to
keep a fixed center of gravity to prevent falling out, or tipping over. Constructed from
fijian kauri wood, CNC milling and dowel-joints were used for the main structure, while
the seat itself incorporates biscuit-joined plan ks. the modular cleanlean’ chair include
different sized seat backs that are interchangeable.
The frame is constructed from fijian kauri wood and ball bearing linkages enable
smooth reclining movement the back of the chair showing the hinge, link and dowel
connections.
