EVOLUTION
What is the modern office?
The modern office is a place where the key elements of creativity and
productivity rule. Theory aside, 40 years of trials and research have shown
that open-plan offices are not necessarily the best bet when it comes to
focus, and in the past decade, more and more multinationals have been
investing in technology for allowing employees to work from home, away
from the hustle and bustle of the busy office.
As recently as the past 2 years however, research has shown that more
and more people are returning to the office.
Employees are now spending at least half their time there as opposed to
working from home. With the reduction of staff active at one time, the
office has become a place of quiet contemplation, devoid of distractions, a
place to finally get things done. The office has become a place where the
productive may produce, and where the creative may create. Offices which
balance the delicate scales of private and public spaces, and transparent and
solid walls, are the next step in a world where privacy and transparency are
no longer mutually exclusive concepts.
Has the physical office retained its traditional role? No, it has evolved past
it.
That evolution, is what we call Generation 7.
