Group three (Rosetta); Cultural heritage location, passive architecture and

Design concept
Climate
This location has high temperature and high humidity ratio. We worked on
increasing the thermal comfort zone using passive technique such as
thermal mass as we used plastic bottles filled with sand
Poverty
In this project we want the mosque as a unity slogan for this area. We used
simple and local materials with low cost and public participate in the
construction process.
Policy
Halayeb has become like a thermometer in the relationship between Egypt
and Sudan when the relationship is strained and forgotten when the tension
passes. We want to solve this crisis so that no cloud stays stuck in the sky
of relations between Egypt and Sudan and they remain as one body as they
are a natural, geographical and social extension for each other
Design Approach
Halayeb is very rich with natural resources but it isn’t utilized well because
of lack of knowledge and financial support. We want to help them to live
comfort by using their resources without additional cost. We built a unit
completely from natural resources available in their location.
People will build their own unit by filling bottles with sand to increase
thermal insulation and then fill it into spaces between stone structures. We
try to provide them a form from their environment to be acceptable in their
local culture.
