Q: How do you assess the condition of Egyptian architecture at the time
being?
A: The Egyptian architecture has achieved great success, but we have not
reached the desired level yet, while the Egyptian cities still suffer poor
architectural and civilized constructional organization. Certainly, the
Egyptian State is partly responsible for such poor conditions because it
should allocate a part of its budget for the buildings and their maintenance
and there should be architectural and construction culture in general.
Architecture is divided into four approaches; the first is related to the
consumer which should match the required level, the second is the architect
himself/herself, the third is the authority which lays down the architectural
rules, while the fourth approach is the investor who considers the
commercial aspect only. Therefore, we do not have the architectural and
construction culture.
