Members of Chambers of Commerce

In addition to the must-conditions, a member of the Chamber of Commerce should meet the following conditions:

  • Age should not be less than thirty.
  • Able to read and write.
  • Member should have worked in the industry related to trade or industry for five years. This period could be reduced to two years if the member holds an academic degree from a university or higher education institutions.

٠ To pay annual tax on business, industrial or real estate profits for not less than a certain amount set by law.

  • To stand for election and deposit in the Governorate or Directorate safe in which the chamber is allocated, a certain amount of money set by law.
  • A member should not have been declared bankrupt or sentenced for a felony or misdemeanor or theft or hide stolen things, or fraud or a betrayal of trust or treachery or bribe or bankruptcy or fraud or use of forgery or fraudulent or false testimony or drug trafficking, as well as convicts unless he was legally cleared.
  • A member should not combine a membership of two rooms.
  • Chambers may have affiliated members of not more than five if their membership is of use to the chamber. The duration of the membership is renewable and members may attend the meetings if invited without any interference in the deliberation of the hearing sessions.
  • Members may hire reporting member in areas of their jurisdiction and they should not exceed the number of the chamber’s members. Moreover, they may attend the meetings of the chamber if invited without any interference in the deliberation of hearing sessions.
