GREEN PYRAMID AND DESIGN WORSHIP HOUSE FOR
SUSTAINING AND BUILDING A CIVILIZATION.
Farouk El-Baz Sustainability and Future Studies Center at the British
University in Egypt is one of the workshops of diligence and attempts that
have both of pitfalls and successes and we are always looking for
partnerships in issues that may seem multiple but linked and interdependent
to build a human being. So the conferences and competitions came to
gather, meet and understand scenarios of Next Designs, through which we
build Egypt’s future man with a compatible science with Egypt’s current
and future capabilities.
With the honor of being a partner with the National Center for Housing and
Construction Research, the goal of achieving one of the steps of Egypt
2030 Vision for Sustainable Development was the idea of the competition
“Design Worship Houses Using the Green Pyramid Code” which was
adopted in summer 2017 as a reference for green construction in Egypt,
the philosophy of the competition was to balance the requirements of the
future and the pressures of reality needs. Since the promulgation of Law 4
for the Environment of the year 1994, unfortunately Egypt has had
disabled laws, for all that related to development and balance with the
environment through EIA studies. Then in parallel, in December 2010, the
Housing and Construction Research Center presented the special draft for
measuring sustainability in terms of architecture and urbanization. The
competition aims at identify the Green Pyramid Code by activating and
applying it on a design of a building as a methodological step in order to
identify what can be added to the code or what is modified through the
practice in the competition,
