“May Highness life and death.. One wonders” I quote these words frommy dear architect
Dr. Sharif Al Gohari in his speech on the late Mito’s pages as a word of leave taking and
consoling him to his family and loved ones everywhere. This brief phrase is really a true
summary of Mito’s life and his sudden death for me and all beloved him of architects
and others in Egypt and the Arab world.
I knew Mito -may ALLAH mercy him – for more than fifteen years when I was working
in “Madina” magazine, which was published in Cairo from 1997 to 2001; he was then a
young small keen activity and garish mind. I can remember very well how giants of
Egyptian archi tecture welcome him during his opening of an architecture exhibition
held in Al Manager Center for Arts on Feb. 28,1998; where his project poster were
presented and for the main the project of “Supreme constitutional Court” on Nile
Cornice in Cairo. However, it was very at- tractingto see competition between leading
architects, of that time, like Dr. Al Ghazali   Casi – bah, Dr. All Raafat and others in taking
pictures or talking to him; he, from his side, was taking explanation of his ideas, which
he wanted to express through his displayed posters.
It was clear quite the dazzling future that awaits this young man and how others eyes
around him were dazzled. Bit by bit, Mito turned into a real architectural phenomenon,
so his ex traordinary thoughts and architectural solutions created wide debate between
supporters and opponents, in which Mito was its basis and center, in addition to that he
has created new method for architectural work, where it is briefly dependent on
computer in architectural drawing more than ever before,
