The project is part of a development plan for East Port Saeed. The first phase of the plan includes the establishment of a container terminal until 2015. It’s expected for the containers handling volume to increase by 10 million containers after establishing the second terminal in the port of East Port Saeed by 2017. The project costs 3 billion pounds and will be placed to tender in June 2012. Setting up the second terminal in five years will make this port ranks first in terms of the usage in the Mediterranean Sea.
