DRAWN BY DR. FADEL SHALTOUT
Unlimited dust and rere dropping rain constitute source of dirt of our
exteriors. This dirt covers most of our external natural and artificial stone
and plastered exterior surfaces Ceramics and other non porous materials
are the best grantee for permanent clean Egyptian exteriors .
However, such initially expensive materials, and their expert workmanship,
make it hard to achieve crisp neat looks in our modern residential and
public building. However, sustainability and durability, highly decorative
and colourful textures are accepted as good enough justification for their
use.
Ceramics endure change of colour caused by ultra violet waves. They are
relatively hard against misuse, ware and tare. They open for Egyptian
Architecture many lines of architectural surface treatments expressive and
abstract presentation in all paradigms: geographic social, economic, and
nationalistic .
