The process of restoring the Cinema Radio complex started with carefully
removing all the violations to which the building had been subjected, over
the years. Through old photographs and archival footage of the 1952fire of
Cairo, HAA was able to piece together most of Edrei’s original designs.
However, no records existed for the storefronts along the arcade.
Therefore, HAA had to try and put themselves in the mind of Edrei in
order to extrapolate how the storefronts could have looked; based on the
taste and mind set of the late art deco period in Egypt.  
Since the existing entrance to the upper floors of the office building on
Talat   Harb Street is through a side alley that is not.” almost entirely blocked
by illegal vending kiosks, HAA was asked to design a new entrance and
elevator core more suitable for high end business tenants’ HAA’s design for
this new entrance, rendered almost entirely in glass and black iron, respects
the existing, art deco context of the original, while answering the demands
of high end office buildings of the 21 Century.
