The playgrounds have been redesigned following the same logic as for the
halls. The planting system, the acoustic treatment of the walls, and the
different materials all help to break up the monotonous, of the existing
playground.
The existing building was on three identical levels, with one central corridor
serving classrooms on either side. The space occupied by the nursery
school is on the first floor, while the second and third floors are devoted to
the elementary school. We have broken up the traffic areas by bringing in
light in different ways, providing visual landmarks and a considerable
degree of comfort.
On the outside, the facades have been renovated very simply. They are
more open and more crystallized, tempered by vertical sun- screens in
shiny stainless steel which, in addition to providing protection from strong
sunlight, will produce some incredible effects. Also, he widened the both
sides windows to appear as two wide eyes as an innovation view for the
whole building, and he has lowered the class’s windows, so that children
can see what’s going outside.
The dominant idea of this project was the places’ differences, as every
space has its own identity as special sign, that were necessary of this
magnificent building that was described by “Alberto Campo Baeza ” as
masterpiece, and that addition of fineness and softness was something
necessary, so that students and teachers can enjoy a fine environment to be
creative educational tool.
