Ennead means 9, which is the highest one-digit natural number, It symbolizes the
maximum limit and also connotes positive deconstruction for a new creation.
The master plan is composed of 9 units and each unit satisfies the symbolism and
functionality of the proposed programs. The plan introduces programmatic balance
between each unit in an impeccable manner, creating a dynamic environment which has
a potential for future development. This is the fundamental value and development
direction of the project that Science City pursues, and it will, ultimately exhibit an
evolutionary process of science that has been development from the past, present and to
the future.
The unit located at the centre of the plan is named as “Core Chimney”. The notion of
“1+8-Ennead” is introduced here, as it has a pivotal role that connects its eight
surrounding units. The spaces such as Observatory Tower, Planetarium, Satellite
Exhibition, Orientation and Information Hall are located in this core, in order to
promote frequent interactions and closer relations.
Science has always proposed the standards for both social and exchange activities.
Science is also the product of interaction within human beings. Thus, science should be
recognized as a culture composed of behaviors and life patterns of humans, not just a
single branch of study.
The goal of Science City is to create a place for cultural exchange among Human.
