CITY SOUL 2من اصل4
There are basic resources for survival available in the urban core, but
originating we know not where.
Travel is achieved with ease in private cars, but at what cost in energy
depletion? As well as being in itself cause of environmental pollution.
The city still survives, but at a price. Experts seldom start in the city as a
focus for sustainable development. The urban environment offers the
ultimate challenge in terms of re-ordering our lives for survival.
So, if we are to reconstruct the city, recognising the important cultural and
economic benefits which result from coming together, then it is to the
future we must look in terms of understanding and making places which
reflect more fully any emerging belief in a sustainable future.
The answer to the question of what makes a city livable is complex and
constantly evolving. Because of this we should be insisting on answers
about what will be happening to OUR cities in the next few decades.

A narrow focus on the city as a driver of the economic, without an
appreciation of how the urban shapes those who live within it can act as a
challenge to social stability and personal wellbeing.
Making sure that Our Country (Egypt) is to be a wonderful place to live
and grow-up in; that our cities and indeed our regional centers are
successful places to be pleasant and resilient is an absolutely key priority of
every level of government. Because the most valuable capital in the world
today is not financial capital… it’s human capital.
While the question of what is a «Livable City» inspires endless debate, less
thought has been given to making urban planning a more democratic
process.
Is a livable city a democratic city?
