Photography was much regarded not as an art but only some kind of
documentation of the reality through the camera, and that the photographer
does not play any role but to stand behind the camera, but the truth is
completely different. The photographer’s role is to understand reality in all
its details and interactions first and then envision through this reality what
he wants to see and show to others delivering his ideas and philosophy,
using all the available tools such as cameras, lenses, perspective, light and
shadows, texture and colors …..
So the photographer photographs using his mind and feelings first and then
his eyes and then comes the role of the camera to record the image he
wanted and envisioned from the very beginning.
This envision between reality and imagination converges the architect and
the photographer. Both have their ideas and philosophy which they want to
deliver to others-each using his own tools, emerging from the reality and the
environment. They both use the same visual elements such as perspective,
composition, rhythm, lighting, materials, colors and texture … to produce
the creativity product that carries an understanding of the spirit of the
reality as well as the philosophy and ideas of the artist; the architect
produces spaces that are viable and linked to the surrounding environment
through his philosophy and ideas, while the photographer produces the
photos bearing from the reality as well as his imagination and philosophy.
