The logistic center project for grain is located in two main storage locations with a capacity of 7 million tons, and there will be different methods for storing, where rapid storage multiple with multiple capacities for rapid trading volume up to 65 million tons per year of grain and food commodities, which contributes to attain food security for Egypt and the surrounding countries of the region, enabling Egypt to strategic control of food.
It is scheduled to finish the works in the logistic center within two years, costing initially about 15 billion pounds, in addition to the construction costs of the factories attached to the project, as well as the expected international foreign investment, and the added-value activities through manufacturing and packaging of grain and oil-producing seeds, raw oil, raw sugar and food commodities of strategic nature.
The project area is about 3,350,000 million square meters, 0.5 million m2 of which within the boundaries of Damietta Port and the rest is in an untapped industrial area located north-east of the port.
The project includes the construction of modern storage silos and domes in 3 regions to increase the storage capacity of 2.5 million tons to 7.5 million tons, and establishing 2 berth for receiving giant ships of 700 meters long, and a rivers berth of 1200 meters long, technical advanced systems to link its marine elements with the storage areas and industrial area using conveyors and modern equipment to reduce the cost of transport, and an integrated electronic system for monitoring and control.
