The architectural heritage in the old cities is suffering from multiple factors
that are working on its extinction and requires an intervention to reduce
them. Moreover, the process of negative change in the traditional heritage
buildings is a national problem. It is an outcome of the rising demands on
services needed by the society, the increase of needs and population
affected the old historical heritage of the cities.
One of the most important old cities that is suffering from the archi tectural
deterioration is Alexandria, the city is living in a conflict between
authenticity and heritage from a side and randomness and confusion from
another side. Villa gusto again was not the first and won’t be the last in the
series of architectural history destruction of this city When the old buildings
started to fall by the act of destruction of nature or man interfered to stop it.
The city lost a lot of its main land marks and its architectural features in a
very short time which threatens to demolish all the architectural heritage left
by the French and the Italian builders, for this reason a law in 2006 with a
number of 441 stated to punish anyone who destructs a building or a
facility partially or totally.
