Overview
In the heart of Cairo lies Trend Micro’s state-of-the-art Signature Office/
Education Hub designed and executed by the Egyptian award-wining
architect and designer Dalia Sadany . Trend Micro, the client is a global
leader in security software solutions with global headquarters in Tokyo and
regional headquarters in Asia, Europe and the Americas. The project is
located at the American University (AUC) Greek Campus near the famed
Tahrir square which coincidently Dalia Sadany won an urban conceptual
design award for a few years ago. Originally part of the AUC’s academic
facilities for over fifty years the Greek Campus is currently being used as a
technology innovation park. On the Campus, the project is situated in the
most prestigious area occupying the second   floor of a standalone building –
a hangar structure with a built-up area of 380 square meters mainly used
for storage. After months of extensive renovation the end result was
astonishing, a master piece turning Trend Micro Cairo into a spectacle of
Egyptian interior architecture achievement.
The location was the main driver for the design plan where Dalia has
always had an affinity towards the Islamic Mafrouka choosing it to be the
core element of the entire theme. Looking at the project from an eye bird
view, you would see how she played around with the islamic pattern. Aside
from reviving the Arabic feel, the use of broken lines across the design
tricks the eye that the space is bigger and makes you lose the feel of the
boundaries.
