architects while enhancing their social and environmental responsibility in
contemporary societies. His work has been reviewed by imminent academics and
professionals in
the Canada, Norway, United States and United Kingdom and is utilized by many
educators.
Professor Salama has made outstanding contributions to knowledge advancement on
globalization, architectural and urban traditions, and emerging cities. This is evident in
his books, book chapters and articles.
Believing in the mission of architectural discourse to expand beyond the academic
world and to speak to a wider audience of architectural and urban practitioners, young
professionals, and members of the public, Professor Salama has made substantial
contributions to writing in architectural magazines worldwide including editorials in
Architects for Peace online.
With a firm belief in offering scholars in architecture and urbanism, especially from
developing countries, opportunities to voice their opinions on issues relevant to
architecture at the intersec tion of art and design, culture and technology, engineering
and society, in global and local contexts. Professor Salama has founded Archnet-IJAR:
International Journal of Architectural Research in 2007.
Addressing key, timely and pressing issues in architecture and urbanism Professor
Salama has developed significant special editions of academic journals such as
Charrette, Open House International, and International Journal of Architectural
