When Mr Lorry reached Paris, he took rooms in Tellson’s Bank in that city, so as to be able to carry out his business more easily. One night he was sitting by the fire when the door of the room was suddenly thrown open, and two figures rushed in. Their appearance was so unexpected that he was filled with surprise.
“Lucie! Manette! What is the matter? What has happened?”
“Oh, my dear husband!” cried Lucie. “My husband!”
