إشارة إعجاب الآن. وظل متمسكاً وثابتاً على هدفه، ومن ثم كان يتحدث إليها بالكاد طوال اليوم، وبالرغم من وجودهما معاً لما يقرب من نصف ساعة، فقد ظل منخرطاً في قراءة كتابة، ولم ينظر حتى إليها.

وفى الصباح التالي، غادرت الفتاتان إلى منزلهما، ولم ترحب الأم بعودتهما ترحيباً حاراً، ولكن الأب سعد لرؤيتهما سعادة غامرة؛ حيث فقد حوار المساء بين الأسرة حيويته وبهجته بسبب غياب جين وإليزابيث.
