We don’t mean the obvious suggestions of dynamic architecture as in tents,
trailers or movingarchigramcities of the late 19c as envisaged
byarchigramgroup, We also don’t mean the movable aluminum sun-
breakers of Le Corbusier or sliding and the undulating screens that turn
from vertical to horizontal positions and angles. We don’t mean the actual
dynamics nature of video projections on facades of building. These are all
actually dynamic with obvious moving features that don’t approach work of
art.
They have been appreciated as mechanical and electronic devices .
The inspiration of movement, and not the actual one, is the key to entry to
the realm of artwork. They brought architecture to the field of high art and
to more public appreciation .
The nature of aesthetic dynamism is giving virtual movement impressions
and not an actual one. In this respect movementproduces stability in place
of unbalance and this will cause virtual movement all over the architectural
art work .
A table with three equal legs is static. If one of them is shorter, the table
suggests the movement of falling. Pisa tower is more impressive than a
straight one and unintentionally artistic .
Classic temples and tombs are static, balanced between posts and
horizontal lintels, The Egyptian pyramids are static. However it turned to
dynamism by placing the Sphinx beside the largest one. This produces
contrasting impression between the static / mech. Geometric from and the
biological one .
Gothic architecture turned to dynamic form with itsflying buttresses against
outside thrust of the central nave. This dynamism is accentuated by animal
and devilish gutters projecting out of gabled roofs. Imaginary pouring water
