WMPA – Wael AI- Masri Planners and Architects was established in
Amman, Jordan in 2009. The Firm’s design services include design
consultancy work for projects in the Arab world in general particularly in
Jordan, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, The Emirates, Oman, Qatar, and also
extends to the USA. Company constructed and under design   projects
include master planning, urban design developments, waterfronts, shopping
and entertainment centers, restaurants, hotels and resorts, office buildings,
residential developments, private residences, palaces and mosques. The
firm focuses on developing contemporary Arab/Islamic architecture that
draws from the roots   of Arab culture and architectural heritage, focusing on
sustainable/ green design in its various dimensions, local cultural and human
values, as well as environmental and economic aspects, achieved through a
comprehensive design approach including master planning, architectural,
engineering, landscape and interior design.
WAEL AL-MASRI
Wael AI- Masri , Chief Architect at WMPA obtained his bachelors from the
University of Manchester, UK in 1984, and his masters from MIT,
Cambridge, Mass, USA in 1993. He has been practicing in the Arab region
for the past four decades, and has contributed to the development of
architecture in the region through   his designs, research and lectures, His
work has won several local, regional and international awards including the
prestigious “Arab Architect Award for his lifetime achievements, from the
Arab Towns Organization (2008), Best Designer of the Year Awards (2007
and 2008) from Retail City, Dubai, Islamic Architecture   Award, Cityscape
Dubai (2007), Design and Development Award 2007, from the
International Council of Shopping Centers 2007 (ICSC), USA, and the
Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) Napper Urban Design Award
1984, and Heywood Prize from the City of Manchester in 1984.
