In general, and according to your experiences in the market, what are the
Egyptian industry problems in building materials specifically and what are the
mechanism required for the recovery of this sector?
First, building materials industries in Egypt are actually very distinctive, especially in
industries like ceramics, iron, cement, marble and many other which is actually
exported globally in large quantities, and people can depend on it, and able in fact to
compete, but what is missing in the Egyptian product to enable it to compete is the
accreditation or quality certificates in many industries. The reason for this points great
importance, which cannot make them penetrate important markets such as the European
market or the US and Russia’s as the most important markets currently. This point needs
very high expenses and tests of the product are needed by the exporter or the market
there. The solution of this problem is in making attention of the Egyptian producer that
accreditation expenses in the global laboratories.
