THE BARRANCAS HOUSE

INTERNATIONAL NEWS\THE BARRANCAS HOUSE

THE HARMONY OF DESIGN AND THE BEAUTY OF NATURE
the  Barrancas House is considered as one of the most well-known
landmarks of “Mexico City”. The house was built back in the seventies of
the previous century, however, it wasn’t as famous back then as it is
nowadays.
The house has a spatial advantage as it spreads over 7750 square meters,
hence, its restoration was considered as a huge challenge to the work team
“Ezequiel   Farca , Cristina Grappin , and Fernanda de la Mora” who made
sure that they would focus on the details while working in the house. At the
same time, they would keep the same taste of modernism to create a feeling
of suspense and general appreciation to the house.
The location of the house has played an important role in the designation
due to its great overview of the woods and forests. The team of architects
depended mainly on designing the exterior looks of the floors, ceilings, and
windows on natural elements and materials. In addition to depending onthe
natural light. Thus, the interior and exterior designs would be mixed without
compromising the beauty of the place and its wonderful design. The house
has the most luxurious means of comfort for any family to enjoy during
their visit while maintaining a high level pf privacy for them. That includes
a home theater, a wine cellar, a gym, 2 terraces, a pool, garden and green
areas. The guest can also discover the house through hallways and
corridors which would definitely lead to seeing vast spaces that could be
controlled by moving walls, secret doors and windows and an automatic
lightning system that matches the needs of the guests.
The landscape surrounding the house was designed depending on special
plants that adjust the local climate surrounding the house. In addition to
having a roof full of plants and green walls. It also has a solar energy
system and an automatized water saving system.
Designing the house depended mainly on marble, stone and wood-alongside
with using neutral color like dark green and dark brown to give a feeling of
peace and mingle with nature, and that goes well with the interior and
exterior design in creating a feeling of the infinity of the place
