THE WOMEN’S   EMPOWERMENT CENTRE   REEM KHORSHID

The Women’s Empowerment   centre   aims to break the boundaries between the two
adjacent yet socially and economically segregated, communities. Also it tackles the
issue of gender segregation in the informal areas through its gender- mixed program
that has   apublic   zone targeting all the family members of all genders, not women
exclusively .
The project targets women and families who live in the marginalized district
of   boulaq   El   Dakrour , located in Greater   cairo   and precisely in Giza governorate.
Because   Boulaq   El  Dakrour , an informal area, is geographically adjacent to the planned
neighborhood of   Dokki , the project aims to bridge the socio- economic gap between
the two areas through providing services, primarily, for women in   Boulaq   and women
in   Dokki   as well; where it can create intangible flow between the two districts in
attempt to fight urban segregation .
