ALEXBANK is a key partner and supporter to Tunis village the ceramic artists and pottery craftsmen producing handmade original pottery crafts that descend from historical old practices, ALEXBANK was able to support the Fifth Annual “Tunis Village Festival for Pottery and Crafts” that took place late 2015 and since then has been supporting the Festival as the Main Sponsor. ALEXBANK donated the number of 12 electric pottery wheels to be placed in 12 workshops, a donation that aimed at facilitating the artisans work by replacing old equipment of the village with the state of art electric wheels, which increase the work efficiency and productivity to fulfill the expanding demand. Moreover and leveraging on the impact ALEXBANK is making at Tunis village, a partnership took place with Alwan NGO to redecorate the walls and streets of Tunis Village under the theme Tunis Village beautification where more than 60 students drew the walls of Tunis village houses with amazing artwork stemming from pottery artwork of the villagers. TunisVillage in Fayoum: is a lakeside village overlooking QarounLake in Fayoum Governorate. In 1980, EvelyneBoret, a Swiss Pottery artist came to this village, fell in love with it and resides there since then. She was the first potter in the village establishing the pottery school which eventually trained generations of local children reviving their innate sense of pottery art and propelling their products to national celebration. Over the last thirty years, artists from across the globe have built mud-brick houses in the village and today, the village has a pottery school, ten pottery workshops, an Art Center and hosts an annual pottery festival.
