Sulfonamide solutions are incompatible with calcium- or other polyionic-containing fluids as well as many other preparations. Antacids tend to inhibit the Gl absorption of sulfonamides. Alkalinization of the urine promotes sulfonamide excretion, and urinary acidification increases the risk of crystalluria.
